I would like to acknowledge the following information sources used in compiling this educational resource. Australian Ants Online: http://www.ento.csiro.au/science/ants/terms.htm Louisiana
State Arthropod Museum (very comprehensive!) Christmas Island: http://www.abc.net.au/nature/island/ep2/locals/3e.htm Yellow Crazy Ants: http://www.deh.gov.au/parks/christmas/fauna/crazy.html PestControl: http://www.pestcontrolmag.com/pestcontrol/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=12948
I would also like to thank the Centre for Microscopy and Microanlysis (CMM) at the University of Queensland for use of their sample preparation equipment and Scanning Electron Microscope. The specimens were critical-point dried at the CMM using liquid carbon dioxide. They were then glued to microscope mounts and coated with platinum in a sputter-coater before being imaged in the JEOL 6460 LA Scanning Electron Microscope at the CMM.
